Summer Reflections

I’m on Accutane and this heat is hell but I’m really happy. Here’s what my surroundings have inspired recently (notes app and being a stalker compilation):

The amount of importance you place on romantic relationships is too much for me to bear right now.

What I like about this outfit:

She’s just so fabulous. The layered linens look so comfortable but still protective against the sun that feels alarmingly scorching and keeps me worried about impending doom at night. I also adore the lipstick-jewelry-practical sandal combination; as well as the purse plus tote bag, because they carry different things, naturally. She’s reading the New Yorker, obviously.

Andy and Isa are like a couple out of sex in the city. Both of them beautifully complex and gorgeously in love. Almost too perfectly aligned with my TV show vision of their lives is Isa’s comically self-aware obsession with the newness of love- which she has not felt in a long time and likely never will again- and how she projects it upon her friends. She sets them all up! On the rooftop of their Gramercy penthouse, Andy lovingly gazed at her and remarked “She runs a brothel out of this apartment.” The table erupted into laughter and she looked at him and giggled: it wasn’t a dig- he loved it.

I’ve been analyzing Ariana Grande lyrics, as per usual, I guess…
One of my favorite takes from one of my favorite albums, Sweetener, is that in the song Pete Davidson, her repetition of the phrase:

Got me happy, happy

I'ma be happy, happy, yeah

I'ma be happy, happy

Won't get no crying from me, yeah

Gonna be happy, happy

I'ma be happy, happy

I'ma be happy, happy, yeah

Gonna be happy, happy

I'ma be happy, happy

I'ma be happy, happy, yeah

Gonna be happy, happy

I'ma be happy, happy

I'ma be happy, happy

as joyful as it is on the surface, it felt more like she was trying to convince herself of what she knew was a doomed relationship actually working out in the long room. I think the opposite is true in her use of repetition in current album, Eternal Sunshine. She sings:

Won't (won't) break (won't), can't (can't) shake (shake)

This (this) fate (fate), rewrite

Deep (deep) breaths (breaths), tight (tight) chest (chest)

Life (life), death (death), rewind

Won't (won't) break (won't), can't (can't) shake (shake)

This (this) fate (fate), rewrite

Deep (deep) breaths (breaths), tight (tight) chest (chest)

Life (life), death (death)
This is just so much more honest! And real! You can dance and grow to this album. Thank you Glinda.

ABT is in season at the Met.
At lunch like I said on the patio at Lincoln Center. It’s too hot now to sit on the grass.

I stare at my favorite core de ballet members as they grab lunch with their parents between shows and all that I’m arriving to work in stride with Aran Bell or Herman Cornejo, just like old times.

It’s a nice reminder that you’ll always be somewhat nostalgic for the moment you’re in or whatever. I don’t miss it but I do you know?
